Virat Kohli extended his lead at the top of the ICC Test rankings following a 25th Test ton in the second Test against Australia at Perth, while Nathan Lyon reaped rewards for his match-winning haul of 8/106 as he rose to a career-best seventh place on the Test bowling rankings.

Kohli, who has Kane Williamson breathing down his neck at the top spot gained 14 points to reach 934 points after a scintillating 123 in the first innings at Perth. With that, he increased his lead over Williamson from seven to 19 points. The New Zealand captain too reached a personal-best of 915 points after his 91 against Sri Lanka in the first Test in Wellington which ended in a draw.

New Zealand opener Tom Latham too saw a jump of 15 slots to a career-best 22nd spot after his epic 264 in Wellington while Sri Lankans Angelo Mathews (16th place) and Kusal Mendis (18th place) too moved eight and two positions respectively on the batting chart after their match-saving effort.

The biggest gainers on the charts though were the Indian and Australian bowlers who made merry on a helpful Perth surface.

Lyon picked up five wickets in the first innings and followed it up with three in the second as Australia wrapped up the second Test by 146 runs. The off-spinner's efforts helped him climb seven spots on the ranking charts for bowlers. Lyon's fast bowling colleagues Josh Hazlewood (9th) and Mitchell Starc (15th) too rose by two and one spots respectively, which means Australia now have four bowlers in the top 15 of the rankings charts for bowlers.

For India, Mohammed Shami's career-best 6/56 in the second innings saw him move up two places to No.21 while Ishant Sharma who returned five wickets in the match rose one spot to No.26. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah, who bagged five wickets made yet another significant move, climbing five places to No.28.

Among the batsmen, Travis Head rose 16 places to slot into 63rd position while Tim Paine climbed up nine places to No.46. For India, Ajinkya Rahane moved up two places to No.15 and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant rose 11 spots to a career-best 48th position on the charts.
