The fast bowler will become the 11th Indian player to play 100 Test matches when he takes the field in Ahmedabad. Ishant has seen a great transformation in his career since 2014 and is amongst the leading pace bowlers in the world in the last few years.

We look at 10 moments which have defined his career.

1. First Test Wicket (2007)

The first Test wicket is always a big milestone for any bowler. Ishant Sharma made his Test debut in the second Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka in 2007. He was responsible for the 8th Bangladeshi wicket to fall in the first innings at the score of 93 - Mashrafe Mortaza became Ishant Sharma's first Test victim. India went on to win the match by an innings.

2. First Fifer (2007)

Ishant Sharma bowled 33.1 overs, conceded 118 runs and picked 5 wickets in the first innings against Pakistan in the third Test in Bengaluru. The match ended in a draw. India won the series 1-0.

3. First and Only Ten-Wicket Haul (2011)

Ishant Sharma returned with 10-108 in 41.2 overs against the West Indies in Bridgetown in 2011. India set a target of 281 and reduced the home team to 202 for 7 before the match ended in a draw. Six of Ishant's wickets were top-middle order dismissals.

4. 100th Test Wicket (2011)

Daren Sammy became Ishant Sharma's 100 Test Victim when the West Indian captain was adjudged leg before wicket for 15 during the first innings of the second Test in Bridgetown, Barbados in 2011.

5. Leading Wicket Taker in New Zealand (2014)

Ishant Sharma was the leading wicket-taker in New Zealand in 2014. He picked 15 wickets in two Tests at an average of 25.13 including fifers in Wellington and Auckland.

6. Best Bowling Figures in Historical Lord's Win (2014)

Ishant Sharma returned with 7-74 in 23 overs in the second innings against England at Lord's in 2014. The home team, chasing 319, were bowled out for 223 handing India a famous 95-run victory. Ishant returned with his best figures in a Test innings at Lord's.

7. Series-Defining Performance in Sri Lanka (2015)

Ishant Sharma produced a series-defining performance against Sri Lanka in the series decider in Colombo in 2015. He returned with 5-54 in 15 overs including the wickets of Tharanga, Mathews, Thirimanne and Kusal Perera. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 201 giving India a 100-plus lead in the first innings thereby dictating play in the match. India went on to win the match by 117 runs taking the series 2-1.

8. 200th Test Wicket (2015)

Angelo Mathews became Ishant Sharma's 200th Test victim when he was adjudged leg before wicket for 110 in the second innings of the third Test in Colombo in 2015.

9. Match-Winning Spell at North Sound (2019)

Ishant Sharma returned with 8-74 in 26.5 overs against the West Indies in the series opener at North Sound in 2019. India went on to register a massive 318-run victory.

10. 300th Test Wicket (2021)

Ishant Sharma became the third Indian pace bowler to pick 300 Test wickets (after Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan) when he saw the back of Dan Lawrence in the second innings of the series opener in Chennai in 2021
