India vs England: All-Rounder R Ashwin Reaches Rare Test Landmark

Ace India all-rounder R Ashwin as added yet another feather in his already illustrious cap. In the recently concluded series against England that India won 4-0, Ashwin picked up 28 wickets and scored 304 runs.

The last Indian to reach the landmark of 250+ runs and pick minimum 25 wickets in a series was Kapil Dev. In 1979-80 six-Test home series against Pakistan, Kapil scored 278 runs and grabbed 32 wickets.

Overall, legendary England all-rounder Ian Botham was the last cricketer to achieve this rare milestone and he did it twice in his remarkable career.

In 1981 Ashes series, popularly known as Botham's Ashes, the Englishman scored an incredible 399 runs and captured 34 wickets.

While in the 1985 Ashes, Botham repeated the feat, ending the series with 250 runs and claimed 31 wickets. However on both occasions, Botham's all-round heroics came in the 6-match series, unlike Ashwin who featured in a 5-match series.

The last man to achieve 250+ runs and 25 wickets in a 5-match Test series was South African Trevor Goddard who scored 294 runs and claimed 26 wickets against Australia in 1966-67.
