India vs Sri Lanka 2017: Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane Gear Up For Lanka Challenge

Having enjoyed a week’s rest, the Indian players have regrouped in Mumbai as they are set to leave for Sri Lanka on Wednesday. India opener Shikhar Dhawan and Test team vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane took to Instagram to post pictures as the Men in Blue gear up to hit the road again.

Dhawan posted a photo along with Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the post read: “Getting together in mumbai for upcoming sri lanka series.. looking for good cricket ahead. #umeshyaadav @ishant.sharma29 @imbhuvi 💪🏼😊🙏🏼👍🏼”

Rahane posted a photo with his wife which read: “A week well spent with my baiko .. always feels so good to be home even if it's only for a few days .. now off to Sri Lanka 🇱🇰”

Ravi Shastri is set to embark on his first tour with the Indian team after being appointed head coach till the 2019 World Cup. India skipper Virat Kohli will re-join forces with Shastri after a gap of a year. Shastri was team director till June 2016 before Anil Kumble was made head coach.

India is scheduled to play 3 Tests, 5 ODIs and one T20I against Sri Lanka starting July 26. The three Test matches will be played at Galle, Colombo and Kandy. While Rohit Sharma has made a comeback into the longest format of the game, opener Shikhar Dhawan has replaced Murali Vijay in the upcoming three-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

Vijay has complained of pain in his wrist while playing a preparatory match. The same wrist injury had troubled him during the last Test series against Australia at home.
