New Delhi: Having thrashed Sri Lanka in the first Test of the three-match series in Galle, Virat Kohli and boys have now left for Colombo, the venue for the second Test. With the first Test ending in four days, the boys got a well-deserved day’s break and enjoyed themselves on Sunday before heading back to Colombo on Monday.

Opener Shikhar Dhawan took to Instagram to post a photo which read: “Looking forward for d next destination now..😊😊”

In a boost to the Sri Lanka camp ahead of the second Test, starting on Thursday, Sri Lanka’s cricket manager and selector Asanka Gurusinha has revealed that skipper Dinesh Chandimal should be back in the squad for the second Test, having missed the first game.

“Dinesh should be fit, he actually played this (Sunday) morning and he has batted the last couple of days," Gurusinha said.

As for Herath, Gurusinha didn’t sound too optimistic and said that a call will be taken on the eve of the game. "We have to see how he is going to come up in the next couple of days because his finger is pretty sore. We will give him till the last minute to make sure that he is fit. The day before the Test we will see whether he can drift the ball, it will come down to that. If he can without pain he will play, otherwise we will have to look at different options. The finger is not swollen but it's sore and painful," he explained.

India skipper Virat Kohli played a pivotal role in the game as he slammed his 17th Test ton in the second innings and it was also his 5th as skipper in overseas conditions. The Delhi dasher also completed his 1000 runs as skipper outside India in this match.

While KL Rahul couldn't play the match due to an illness, the Karnataka opener is expected to make a comeback into the team in the second game in place of Abhinav Mukund.

India registered a massive victory in the first game as R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja ensured that Sri Lanka's resistance was broken in the 77th over by Jadeja as he sent back Lahiru Kumara for a duck. While Ashwin finished with 3/65, Jadeja had figures of 3/71.

Injuries to Asela Gunaratne — first session of the opening day — and skipper Herath — while fielding on Friday — meant that the visitors needed to pick just 8 wickets in the second essay to end the game and they did that with aplomb after Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav used the new ball to great effect.
