India vs West Indies: Rishabh Pant Finds the Perfect Mentor in MS Dhoni

New Delhi: Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was pictured having a long chat with young wicket-keeping sensation Rishabh Pant ahead of India's first ODI match against West Indies at the Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain in Trinidad on Friday.

Pant is widely regarded as a direct replacement for Dhoni, once he decides to hang up his illustrious boots. Although the young lad has shown glimpses of his immense talent in domestic cricket and in the Indian Premier League, it will still be a big task for Pant to fill in those shoes.

"It is a call that is got to be taken by the selectors and the management. And what they see as the road map for Indian cricket, and where they see the role of both these cricketers going ahead for the next couple of years. Is there a place for both of them? Is there a place for only one of them?," Dravid was quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.

"Do you want to reassess it in a year's time, six months' time? Do you want to look at the available talent and see what they have to offer before going back to these two players," he elaborated further," he said.

So, with the 2019 World Cup in mind, it is imperative for the Indian management to blood in young talent whenever possible. But the good part is that atleast they won't have to search for wicket-keeping hard-hitting batsman, as once Dhoni goes, Pant has already shown that he is his perfect replacement.
