Injured Imrul Kayes Ruled Out of Second Test Against Windies

Bangladesh opener Imrul Kayes has been ruled out of the second Test against Windies with a shoulder and toe injury.

"The physio report says that Imrul has injured his shoulder and toe. He will need 10 days for recovery," chief selector Minhajul Abedin said on Tuesday (November 27).

The home team have decided not to call for any replacement, making it likely that Shadman Islam will end up making his Test debut in Dhaka.

The 23-year-old left-hander scored 73 for BCB XI against Windies in a warm-up match and has been in good form in first-class cricket of late. In his last six games for Dhaka Metro, Islam has scored three fifties and two 150-plus scores.

Bangladesh defeated Windies by 64 runs in Chittagong, riding on Mominul Haque, Nayeem Hasan and Taijul Islam's heroics. The second and final Test of the series begins on November 30 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.

Squad: Shakib Al Hasan (capt), Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Mithun, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Ariful Haque, Mahmudullah, Mehidy Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Taijul Islam, Khaled Ahmed, Shadman Islam, Nayeem Hasan.
