Injured Shaw Uncertain For Mumbai's Ranji Trophy Opener Against Railways

India opener Prithvi Shaw is uncertain to play in Mumbai's Ranji Trophy opener against Railways, but could eventually make the side if he clears a fitness Test prior to the game on November 1.

A source told PTI that Shaw wasn't considered for selection, as he was still recovering from an elbow injury which he sustained during a Vijay Hazare Trophy match. Furthermore, a selector added that while at the moment he is unfit, Shaw could be added to the squad if he passes the fitness test before the game.

Shreyas Iyer, Mumbai's Vijay Hazare Trophy-winning captain, will continue to lead the side in the Ranji Trophy, announced by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Thursday evening.

Senior pacer Dhawan Kulkarni has been named as deputy skipper in the 15 member squad. Other regulars Akhil Herwadkar, Siddhesh Lad, Aditya Tare have been named.
