New Delhi: Gautam Gambhir has guided Kolkata Knight Riders to two Indian Premier League titles but the Kolkata outfit captain on Thursday said his heart still beats for Delhi Daredevils, where he spent the first three seasons of the cash-rich league.
"I think my heart is still with Delhi. I played for three years for Delhi (Daredevils). Somewhere, deep within my heart, I'd love to finish with Delhi," Gautam Gambhir told Hindustan Times.
Gambhir played for Delhi Daredevils for the first three years of the IPL (2008 to 2010) before shifting to KKR in 2011. His helped KKR win two IPL titles - 2012 and 2014.
Gambhir, who amassed 1097 runs in three seasons with Delhi Daredevils, hopes to somehow find a way back to his home team (DD) and finish his IPL career with them.
"Though I am the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, and would want them to win it for the third time, but since I'm a Delhi boy too, I obviously want Delhi Daredevils to do well as well," he said.
The stylish opener, Gambhir, has also had an extremely impressive time with KKR with 2632 runs including 501 last year.
Will Delhi, who have never won a IPL title, have the local boy back in their fold?
