Arnab: That's the wrap from me and Pratik, may the best team win. Join us on CricketNext for the live blog.

All the action from the Opening Ceremony can be watched here:

IPL 2017 Opening Ceremony from Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore

15:19 (IST)

Arnab: Lot is expected from young left arm paceman T Natarajan and he could come in handy against the likes of Stikes and other but for now lets move on to the likely playing XIs

KXIP: Vohra, Amla, Maxwell, Miller, Stoinis, Saha, Axar, Gurkeerat, Sandeep, Natarajan, Aaron

RPS: Rahane, Mayank, Smith, Tiwary, Dhoni, Stokes, Bhatia, Chahar/Unadkat, Zampa, Tahir, Thakur/Dinda

15:13 (IST)

Pratik: Ben Stokes gave glimpses of his big hitting prowess and he will love to bat on the Indore track, which has traditionally been batting friendly.

15:12 (IST)

Arnab: Overconfidence is a big bane Pratik and I hope Pune unlike you know that well. Sandeep Sharma is known for swinging the ball away from the right handers and he has dismissed Rahane twice before. Also Axar Patel is a threat against any kind of batting because he has played at the highest level and done well. In three innings against Smith, Axar has actually managed to get him out once.

15:10 (IST)

Pratik: Let's talk about Pune's batting now and with Rahane and Smith in the kind of form that they showed against Mumbai Indians in the last match, expect them to blow away Punjab's already weak bowling.

15:08 (IST)

Arnab: Tahir's excellence can't be argued and he is definitely a threat. But Tahir alone can't battle it out for the bowling unit always.

15:06 (IST)

Pratik: Pune has the world's leading spinner in their line-up and Imran Tahir showed everyone in the last match that it was a mistake to not pick him up at the auctions. Tahir has dismissed Maxwell, Miller and Morgan twice in T20s, so beware KXIP!

14:59 (IST)

Arnab: There is another power-hitter in my team who is capable of destroying any bowling line-up on his day. His name is David Miller and unlike last year he doesn't have the burden of captaincy this season. Expect 'Killer Miler' to get back to his best this season.

14:54 (IST)

Pratik: It is good to expect your players to fire but the Kings expected the same last season too. They had only one batsman scoring more than 400 runs last season and that shows how having big names on paper don't help.

14:53 (IST)

Arnab: You seem to have done your homework well Pratik, anyway moving ahead. I have more batsmen who could do a 'Pandya' to your Dinda and company laugh, Saha has proved his credentials as a T20 batsman for KXIP before and he will look to showcase his limited overs batting skills, given Dhoni is arguably in the twilight zone of his international career. Shaun Marsh is still around for the Kings and he along with Hashim Amla (if picked) can be lethal on their day.

14:50 (IST)

Pratik: Not the same impact as a T20 batsman as before. Failed to win the T20 series against India in January this year. Also his strike rate has dropped considerably, reason why he was dumped by defending champs Sunrisers Hyderabad.

14:48 (IST)

Arnab: What do you have to say about my other big player, Eoin Morgan. One of the finest overseas players of spin, the southpaw will definitely add depth to Punjab's batting. Has been in good form in the shortest format in 2017, scoring 323 runs in 11 matches including three scores of fifty plus.

14:43 (IST)

Pratik: Maxwell has nothing to write home about as far as his T20 performance in 2017 is concerned. Scored only 59 runs in 4 T20s this year. Also, his performance for the Kings in 2016 left a lot to be desired for, scored only 179 runs in 11 matches at a below par average of 19.88 with only 2 scores of above 50.

14:40 (IST)

Arnab: My first point for the day then and it can't get bigger than the 'Big Show'. Glenn Maxwell has been given the responsibility to lead the team and he will be itching to get the big shots out. The fact that he had a good Test series against India recently will also boost his confidence.

Maxwell is definitely the kind who does well when put under pressure.

14:37 (IST)

Pratik: Good Afternoon Arnab, thanks for the introduction and letting the world know of my Bihari roots, my support for Pune today goes beyond my liking for MSD, it's is a pure cricketing call that I have taken, given the superior quality of Pune's personnel.

14:34 (IST)
