26-year-old Rahul Tripathi has been a real find for Rising Pune Supergiant in the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League, and the right-hander was once again at it against defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday.
While batting on 17, Tripathi was given another lifeline as Bipul Sharma dropped the catch on the ropes, while running from short fine-leg. Had Bipul managed to pluck the catch, it would have brought two new batsman to the crease as in the previous over Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed.
But Tripathi made the most of his second chance and went onto score his maiden half-century in the IPL. The right-hander also hit runs at an impressive-strike rate of 143 and hit six fours and three huge sixes.
It was Rahul Tripathi's innings that helped Pune reach closer to the Hyderabad total before MS Dhoni's brilliant innings got them over the line. However, things could have been way different had Bipul caught him in the deep when the chance was there to do so.
Tripathi was run-out for 59 by Rashid Khan but it could be said that it was bit too late by then.
