Sourav had made it clear a few days back that Dhoni was no longer the force to reckon with and the position of wicket-keeper in his XI went to the young and dynamic Rishabh Pant.
Sourav’s XI includes Virat Kohli (RCB), Gautam Gambhir (KKR), Steve Smith (RPS), AB de Villiers (RCB), Nitish Rana (MI), Manish Pandey (KKR), Rishabh Pant (DD), Sunil Narine (KKR), Amit Mishra (DD), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (SRH) and Chris Morris (DD).
Known to have backed youngsters during his stint as one of India’s most successful captains, Sourav’s team once again shows the same as he has picked the likes of Rana, Pandey and Pant over the experienced campaigners like SRH skipper David Warner and Yuvraj Singh.
Commenting on Dhoni, Sourav had said: “I am not too sure if MS Dhoni is a good T20 player. He is a champion ODI player but when it comes to Twenty20 cricket, in 10 years, he has got one fifty and that’s not the best record.”
In fact, even former Australia skipper Michael Clarke followed suit and decided to pick Pant over Dhoni in his playing XI.
Clarke also has time and again said that Dhoni should get back to his old explosive self now that he is no longer the captain.
