Bhuvneshwar Kumar's pedigree as a world class T20 bowlers is well known and he did justice to that billing on Monday by finishing with his best ever T20 bowling figures of 5/19 to help Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Kings XI Punjab by 5 runs.
The Sunrisers had posted a below par 159 on the board on a tricky pitch and they needed their bowlers to come good against a power packed KXIP bating line up.
Bhuvneshwar was handed the ball to bowl the first over of the innings and he dented Punjab's hopes from the word go by trapping Hashim Amla in front of the wicket on the very first ball.
Bhuvneshwar had bowled his intial quota of two overs and was taken out of the attack. The spinners helped Hyderabad take a firm grip on the match but Punjab opener Manan Vohra went on a rampage in the middle overs to bring KXIP right back into the match.
Bhuvneshwar was handed the ball inthe 17th over and he responded by dismisses Mohit Sharma, who was giving good company to Manan Vohra and broke the crucial partnership.
Vohra though kept KXIP in the hunt by helping the team take 12 runs off Siddarth Kaul' 18th over as the visitors now needed 16 runs off the last two overs.
But Bhuvneshwar Kumar would have the last laugh as he first dismissed KC Cariappa and then trapped Vohra in front with a perfect yorker to claim his fifth wicket of the innings.
