New Delhi: Suresh Raina played a captain's knock in Gujarat Lions' thrilling win over Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier Leaue (IPL) on Friday and in doing so, he also eclipsed Virat Kohli's two records.
Chasing a stiff target of 188, Raina took the KKR bowlers to task and hit a match-winning 46-ball 84 as Gujarat won the match by four wickets. During his sublime knock, Raina surpassed Kohli and set two new milestones in T20 cricket.
With the help of his 84, Raina became the leading run-scorer in the history of the IPL. Raina now has 4341 runs in 147 innings, while Kohli has 4264 runs in 134 innings that he has played in the cash-rich league so far.
While Raina also overtook Kohli's record of most runs by an Indian in the shortest format of the game. Kohli has 6667 runs in 212 T20 matches while Raina has 6673 runs in 251 matches now.

Raina's innings certainly helped Gujarat end the rot and register only their second win in six matches in the league.
Gujarat will hope that Raina takes his form into their match of the tournament against Kings XI Punjab on Sunday.
