So, that's it then. Bit of an anti-climax in the end as Delhi win this one by 34 wickets. A rather comfortable victory you have to say today, its all their biggest victory margin ever over CSK!

23:36 (IST)

WICKET! Dwayne Bravo also departs now, Trent Boult gets another wicket. Bravo goes straight up in the air and Vijay Shankar takes a good catch in the deep. Chennai are 125/6

23:34 (IST)

Good over from Harshal Patel, he ends with figures of 1/23 in his 4 overs. Might be up for man-of-the-match after that performance here, Chennai Super Kings are 124/5 here after 19 overs

23:31 (IST)

WICKET! That is the one Delhi needed, MS Dhoni walks back for 17 off 23 balls. Looking to go for a flat six but hits it straight to Shreyas Iyer at long on. Chennai are 113/5 and need 50 from final 2 overs here.

23:23 (IST)

Perfect over from Harshal Patel in the circumstances here, he concedes just 3 runs in that one and Chennai Super Kings are 108/4 after 17 overs. 55 required from final 3 now

23:18 (IST)

Lamicchane concedes a six from the first ball as Jadeja takes him on here, 11 runs are conceded from that over and Chennai Super Kings are 105/4 here after 16 overs.

23:12 (IST)

Excellent over from Amit Mishra this, he concedes just 2 runs in that one and picks up a wicket. Chennai are 94/4 here and require 67 from final 5 overs.

23:09 (IST)

WICKET! Chennai Super Kings are just losing their way here and Dhoni is watching it from non-strikers end! Billings looks to go for the sweep but only manages to top edge that one. Billings departs for 1 and Chennai are 93/4

23:08 (IST)

What a spell by Sandeep Lamichanne thus far...9 dot ball in three overs. A wicket of Raina. #DDvCSK #IPL

23:06 (IST)

Excellent over from Lamichhane this, Delhi needed it to get back on track here. Dhoni is the crucial wicket you have to say though, Chennai need 71 runs from 6 overs here.

23:02 (IST)

WICKET! Lamichhane strikes, Raina had to go big but he doesn't get that one right off the middle. It was a googly and tossed up, Raina holes out to Shankar in the deep. Departs for 15 off 18 balls.

22:58 (IST)

Amit Mishra bowls an excellent over as the required run rate just inches towards 11 here, Chennai Super Kings are 90/2 after 13 overs here and the fans would take comfort from the fact that Dhoni is still there

22:56 (IST)

MS Dhoni has completed 6000 T20 runs.

He is the 5th Indian player to reach this milestone after Suresh Raina (7693 runs), Virat Kohli (7609 runs), Rohit Sharma (7303 runs) and Gautam Gambhir (6402 runs)

22:54 (IST)

Expensive over this from Maxwell as he concedes two boundaries from that over. 10 runs conceded and Chennai Super Kings are 86/2 after 12 overs here

22:52 (IST)

8.4: Overs between boundaries from players other than Rayudu tonight: 2.3, Watson’s 6 to 11.1, Raina’s four.

22:49 (IST)

Sandeep Lamichhane comes into the attack and he concedes six singles there, MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina at the crease now. Chennai Super Kings are 76/1 here after 11 overs.

22:45 (IST)

WICKET! This is the one Delhi wanted, Ambati Rayudu was threatening to break free here and he looks to whip one but just gets it high in the air. Maxwell judges well and completes a solid catch. Chennai are 70/2

22:38 (IST)

Rayudu takes on Mishra now, shows how much difference it makes when you're in form! a six and a four as 12 runs are conceded from that over. Chennai are 62/1 after 9 overs.

22:36 (IST)

Glenn Maxwell comes into the attack now for Delhi Daredevils, and he starts well. Concedes just 4 runs from that over and Chennai are 51/1

22:31 (IST)

WICKET! Amit Mishra strikes, he gets the big wicket as Watson has to go back. He was looking to go big there but its hit from outer half of his bat and straight to Boult at long off. Chennai are 46/1

22:24 (IST)

This is the over Chennai Super Kings needed, here, excellent from Rayudu as he targets Avesh Khan. Pulls a couple of huge sixes, and Chennai get 22 runs from the over. They are 44/0 after 6 overs.

22:19 (IST)

Excellent over from Harshal Patel here, he concedes just 2 runs in the 5th over. The pitch certainly isn't the easiest to bat on, Chennai Super Kings are 22/0 after 5 overs here

22:13 (IST)

FOUR! Rayudu times one perfectly as he goes through the covers, lines Avesh up and through the vacant region. CSK need more of these!

22:09 (IST)

Three overs gone here and Chennai are 15/0, after Watson deposits a short one into the crowd. Delhi need early in roads to stay alive in this chase.

22:04 (IST)

Lamichhane with an excellent over there, he concedes just 2 runs from that over and Chennai are 5/0 here after a couple of overs.

22:00 (IST)

Excellent first over this from Boult, he concedes just 3 runs there and Chennai are 3/0 after the 1st over

21:40 (IST)

Big final over for Delhi here, 26 runs as Bravo concedes 52 runs from 14 overs. A gem of an innings from Harshal Patel, scoring 36 off just 16 balls and Delhi finish well here. They end at 162/5 after 20 overs

21:36 (IST)

Yet another over and just 6 runs from that one. Delhi Daredevils huffing and puffing through the innings here and are 136/5 after 19 overs

21:32 (IST)

Bravo concedes a six off the first ball but still only 12 runs in that over for Delhi. The loss of wickets hasn't helped the home side either as they struggle to get the runs, Delhi are 130/5 after 18 overs.

21:28 (IST)

Again just 8 runs coming from the 17th over and Delhi are 118/5 here, Vijay Shankar deposits one into the stands but Delhi are really struggling here. Can they finish well in the final 3 overs?

IPL 2018 DD vs CSK, Match 52 Highlights - MS Dhoni and CSK Derailed by Daredevils Bowlers

PREVIEW: A formidable Chennai Super Kings will be aiming to tie up loose ends ahead of the play-offs when they take on a listless Delhi Daredevils in a rare dead rubber of the Indian Premier League on Friday. With CSK comfortably qualifying for the play-offs, the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led squad is eyeing the top spot on the points table alongside Sunrisers Hyderabad, whom they defeated comprehensively in their previous game. The consistency CSK have shown in the tournament after missing out in the previous two seasons is commendable and it seems they were never out of action. They have been solid even against the mighty Sunrisers, who arguably have the best bowling attack in the tournament. Also, CSK adjusted well in Pune, their forced home ground after games were moved out of Chennai due to the Cauvery water dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Their opening combination of Ambati Rayudu and Shane Watson has worked brilliantly while chasing big totals as well as setting them. Rayudu, with 535 runs at 48.63 average, has been their standout player which was acknowledged by Dhoni after the opener smashed an unbeaten 100 against Sunrisers. Be it opening the batting or in the middle order, Rayudu has delivered for the team.
“Even before IPL started I had to make space for Rayudu, because he is somebody I rate very highly. He can play both the fast bowlers and spinners very well. Most teams look to exploit the opener with spin bowling. He is someone who does not look like a big hitter but almost clears the field every time he plays the big shot,” said Dhoni after the game against Sunrisers. Dhoni himself has turned back the clock with his clean hitting, helping him amass 413 runs at 103.25. Watson too has been exceptional with 424 runs at 35.33. The bowling has not stood out individually but has done the job as a unit. Shardul Thakur has been their leading wicket-taker with 11 scalps, followed by Dwayne Bravo, who has picked up nine. The experienced spin duo of Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja have been effective at keeping things tight.
CSK will get to fine tune their game against Daredevils, a team which has been below par yet again. Getting the legendary Ricky Ponting on board as coach and a change in captaincy in the middle of the tournament too has not helped the struggling side. They have had the much needed break of five days and will be fresh going into tomorrow’s game. They are playing for pride and would like to be on the winning side in their remaining two games. The management handed out IPL debuts to Sandeep Lamichhane, Abhishek Sharma and Junior Dala in the previous game against RCB.
Nepal spinner Lamichhane impressed and even opened the bowling. India U-19 star Sharma too took most by surprise with his big hitting, hammering an unbeaten 46 off 19 balls. South African pacer Dala though disappointed as he went wicketless in three overs conceding 34 runs. The trio is expected to get another opportunity to prove their worth and it will not be surprising if a couple of other players on the sidelines get a look in.
