IPL 2018: Tendulkar Hails Rashid Khan as the 'Best' T20 Spinner

Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to secure their IPL final berth, this time courtesy the exploits of Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan. In the qualifier 2 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Friday, the 19-year-old played a cameo of 34 runs from just 10 balls to take his team to a respectable total of 174, and later returned with match figures of 3/19, to win his side the match. This effort from Rashid helped SRH beat KKR by 13 runs.

Cricketers from world over took notice of this performance and heaped praise on the youngster. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar too took to twitter and hailed Rashid’s efforts. He wrote, “Always felt @rashidkhan_19 was a good spinner but now I wouldn’t hesitate in saying he is the best spinner in the world in this format. Mind you, he’s got some batting skills as well. Great guy.”

A host of other international cricketers too celebrated his performance. Sunrisers' mentor VVS Laxman wrote, "Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Big game, and @rashidkhan_19 was simply outstanding with both bat and ball. Has been a wonderful journey for us on our way to the finals and I wish the boys give it their everything and enjoy the finals. #KKRVSRH"

Irfan Pathan said, "Pathhar se pani nikal nahi sakte Lekin @rashidkhan_19 aaj Wo bhi kar dete. Batting bowling fielding. Mind blowing effort #KKRvsSRH Goodluck to two best teams of this ipl2018 for the finals #CSKvSRH."

What is noteworthy is that Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani too congratulated the youngster. "Afghans take absolute pride in our hero, Rashid Khan. I am also thankful to our Indian friends for giving our players a platform to show their skills. Rashid reminds us whats best about Afg. He remains an asset to the cricketing world. No we are not giving him away. @narendramodi."

In this season of IPL so far, Rashid has picked up 21 wickets in 16 matches and scored 59 runs. Come the final against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on May 27, the leggie will have a chance to bag the Purple Cap, as he is just three wickets behind Kings XI Punjab's Andrew Tye, who has 24 wickets.
