Match 54, Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad 19 May, 2018

Toss won by Sunrisers Hyderabad (decided to bat)

Kolkata Knight Riders beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 5 wickets

Man of the Match: Chris Lynn

KKR QUALIFIES FOR PLAYOFFS: And that's it. Skipper Dinesh Karthik guides the ball towards mid on and seals the victory with a single.  That's an emphatic 5-wicket win for Kolkata. This win will give them a lot of confidence going forward into the tournament.

WICKET: Rana starts the final over with a four towards extra cover. But with just one run needed, Rana goes for a big shot off Brathwaite, but gets caught at fine leg. He departs for 7. KKR 172/5 in 19.2 overs.

Bhuvneshwar comes to bowl the penultimate over. He manages to keep it tight, but it looks all but over for KKR. 5 runs come from the over. KKR 168/4 in 19 overs. They need 5 runs from 6 balls.

WICKET: Kaul peppers new man Andre Russell with short balls. He pitches them perfectly and narrowly misses out on a wicket. Russell tries to hook one, but gets an edge. Right after that he gives a straight forward catch to Pandey. That's a big wicket. Russell is out for 4. KKR 163/4 after 18 overs.

The wicket seems to have comes a little too late for SRH. Right after getting a wicket, Brathwaite is hit for a blistering boundary by Karthik. 8 runs come from the over. It's 155/3 after 17 overs. KKR need 18 from 18.

BRATHWAITE STRIKES: And there is a twist in the match here. Uthappa edges a Brathwaite ball, and Goswami pouches the ball with ease. The batsman departs for 45. Can SRH pull things back from here? KKR need 23 from 21 balls.

#SRH in a spot of bother....almost invincible for 2/3 of the tournament...and now, their bowling is no longer holding the same threat. Losing momentum as the playoffs approach.. #IPL

Rashid Khan comes for his final over. It's all very easy at the moment for KKR. Tonight, SRH bowlers have not been able to keep up the pressure and failed to bag wickets. Not the time has come to take chances against Rashid too. Uthappa goes down the ground for a 4. He then follows it up with a monstrous six through the mid-wicket region. 15 runs come from it. It's 147/2 in 16 overs. KKR need 26 from 24 balls.

    Aakash Chopra, Cricket Pundit 23:14(IST)

No team has played so many uncapped Indian players (Shubhman, Nitish, Mavi, Prasidh, Rinku) as #KKR...and that’s why your heart goes out for them. It’ll be a wonderful story if they qualify...a proper Team Effort. #IPL

This match is heavily tilted in KKR's favour at the moment. After a string of dot balls, Karthik gets an edge off Bhuvi, and the ball sails past third man for a six. 11 runs come from the over in the end. It's 132/2 in 15 over. KKR need 41 from 30 balls.

Dinesh Karthik comes ahead of Nitish Rana. That means that KKR are keeping a close watch on the NRR. But still Siddarth delivers an excellent over in this crucial situation of the match and just gives two runs in the over. It's 121/2 after 14 overs.

WICKET: Lynn depart after a well-made 55 from 43 balls. Siddarth Kaul finally produces a wicket for his team. Manish Pandey takes a juggling catch at the boundary, and makes it look really simple. But has the wicket come a little too late for SRH? It's 119/2.

With the target in sight, KKR batsmen are still not taking on Rashid Khan. He delivers another accurate over. Just 6 runs come from it. It's 119/1 after 13 overs. This win will boost KKR's run-rate.

Shakib continues. Now the batsmen have enough confidence to take on the spinners. Uthappa hits him for a big, straight six and follows it up with a boundary through the covers. That's another good over for KKR. 13 runs come from it. It's 113/1 12 overs.

50 FOR LYNN: Williamson is using his bowlers smartly. He has brought in Sandeep now. But then that gives an opportunity for Lynn to freeze his arms. He sends the ball into the orbit and brings up his fifty. 10 runs come from the over. It's 100/1 after 11 overs.

Shakib comes into the attack. SRH should look to utilise the period where spinners are bowling. KKR batsmen are not looking to score many runs off them, but just rotate the strike. Just 5 runs come from the over. It's 90/1 after 10 overs.

MISSED OPPORTUNITY: Rashid comes for another over. And finally Uthappa commits the mistake of taking on the leggie. He skies the ball, but luckily for him the bowlers makes a mess of the catch. Uthappa survives. A big chance goes down for SRH. 5 runs come from the over. It's 85/1 in 9 overs.

KKR batsmen have clearly marked their bowlers. Lynn now targets Brathwaite and hits him for a big six. Rest of the both batsmen decide to rotate the strike. They still get 9 runs from the over. It's 80/1 after 8 overs.

It's time for Rashid Khan to roll his arm over. On the very first ball he beats Lynn convincingly. Both the batsmen decide to ward off his over safely and just rotate strike the entire over. Rashid could really turn the tables now. Five runs come from the over. It's 71/1 after 7 overs.

Siddarth Kaul comes into the attack. He has a knack of picking wickets when the chips are down. The pacer manages to keep things quiet, somewhat. Uthappa just pulls one for a four in the over. 6 runs come from it. It's 66/1 after 6 overs.

Bhuvneshwar returns for another over. And he is greeted by a straight boundary by Lynn. KKR batsmen are cruising at the moment. For SRH there is only one way to win this match—take wickets. Just seven runs come from the over. It's 60/1 after 5 overs.

A good over from Shakib comes to an end and that brings the very dangerous Robin Uthappa to the crease. KKR just need 129 runs to get their NRR higher than Rajasthan Royals. It's 53/1 after 4 overs.

WICKET: And it's time for some spin. Shakib Al Hasan invites Narine into playing some shots. After hitting the bowler for a four and a six, Narine gets carried away, and skies the ball. Manish Pandey takes an easy catch. It's 52/1. Narine departs for a well-made 29 from 10 balls.

A bowling change already by Kane Williamson. Siddarth Kaul comes in for Bhuvi. But it's the same result as Lynn hits a six now. The batsman pulls the ball over mid-wicket for a six. He follows it up with a straight hit over the bowler for a four. That's 11 runs from the over. It's 41/0 after 3 overs.

FOUR, FOUR, FOUR, SIX: Sandeep Sharma starts the proceedings from the other end. But Narine looks like man on a mission. He greets Sandeep with three back to back boundaries. The bowler is under huge pressure here. In a bid to do something different here, he bowls a couple of wide balls. The southpaw batsman ends the over with a straight six. That's 20 runs from the over. It's 30/0 after 2 overs.

And Bhuvi starts for SRH. On the third ball of the over, Lynn hits the ball through cover-point region for a cracking form. This shot should give a lot of confidence to him. On the first ball that Narine faces, Bhuvi delivers a pacy yorker, but the batsman wards it off safely. Lynn finishes the over with another four, this time through sweeper cover. It's 10/0 after one over.

And KKR openers make way to the middle. A lot will depend on how Sunil Narine deals with Bhuvneshwar Kumar on a tricky wicket. It's a big task for KKR to win here. They are up against the best bowling unit of the competition.

And it ends with a wicket! Would you believe it, 4 wickets in an over. Bhuvneshwar is run out on the last ball and SRH have fallen from 79/0 to end at 172/9, still more than a decent score on the surface you have to say. Interesting chase coming up now!

WICKET! Rashid Khan also departs first ball, sensational catch by Karthik, running backwards. Sunrisers Hyderbad are 172/8.

WICKET! Shakib Al Hasan also departs now, SRH have really lost momentum after that early blitzkrieg. Shakib looks to go for the pull but mistimes and hits it straight to backward square leg. SRH are 172/8

PREVIEW: Hyderabad: Kolkata Knight Riders will have no margin for error when they take on hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad, who will fancy their chances despite coming off a defeat, in the Indian Premier League on Saturday. Currently occupying the top spot with nine wins from 13 matches, Sunrisers are coming into the game following a 14-run loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore in a high-scoring match, but the home team can take confidence from their impressive showing in the season so far. Two-time champions KKR are placed third in the standings with seven wins in 13 outings, and the visitors will be going all out for a victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, and inch closer to SRH and Chennai Super Kings. The live telecast of the IPL 2018 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders will start at 8 PM on May 19th (Saturday). The match can be seen live on the Star Sports network and live streaming will be available on hotstar.com. You can also follow the match live blog for ball-by-ball updates, full score and IPL match highlight on cricketnext.com.
After Sunrisers' dismal performance against RCB with the ball, which has been one of their strong points this season, the hosts will be eager to correct the flaws as they brace up to face another tough opposition. Sunrisers are likely to ring in a couple of changes and pacer Basil Thampi, who yesterday bowled the most expensive four overs in the history of IPL, could be one of the axed players. Thampi leaked 70 runs in his full quota of four overs, surpassing the previous record held by Ishant Sharma. While the bowlers were taken to task by the likes of AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali in their last game, Sunrisers showed a lot of heart while batting, coming within touching distance of a famous win. Aggregating over 600 runs this season, skipper Kane Williamson has led the side from the front, and he will look to do it again. The 81 off 42 balls against RCB was Williamson's eighth fifty-plus score in IPL 2018.
Having missed out against RCB, opener Shikhar Dhawan will be keen to get a big one against the Knight Riders. Manish Pandey, who blazed away to a half century against Virat Kohli's bowlers, will look to continue in the same vein. In bowling, pace spearhead Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was not played in the last game, could be back alongside Rashid Khan, Siddarth Kaul and Shakib Al Hasan. As far as KKR is concerned, one player whose confidence will be sky high going into the match is Kuldeep Yadav, who starred with four wickets in the team's comfortable win over Rajasthan Royals. The likes of Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine and skipper Dinesh Karthik will hold the key to KKR's fortunes.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Kane Williamson (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Manish Pandey, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Wriddhiman Saha, Siddharth Kaul, Deepak Hooda, Khaleel Ahmed, Sandeep Sharma, Yusuf Pathan, Shreevats Goswami, Ricky Bhui, Basil Thampi, T Natarajan, Sachin Baby, Bipul Sharma, Mehdi Hasan, Tanmay Agarwal, Alex Hales, Carlos Brathwaite, Rashid Khan, Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Nabi and Chris Jordan.
