IPL 2021: Suresh Raina & Cheteshwar Pujara Kickstart Their Preparations Ahead of Joining CSK in Chennai

Ahead of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings players Suresh Raina and Cheteshwar Pujara are in full preparation mode. MS Dhoni led CSK will open their IPL 2021 campaign against previous years’ runner-ups Delhi Capitals on April 10 in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Raina has been training in Ghaziabad and will soon join others at the CSK training camp in Chennai. He recently shared a video of his workout routine on social media and revealed that it was his last gym session before joining the CSK squad. He posted the video on his official Instagram account and captioned the video as, ‘Last session before joining the team! All geared up for IPL. Can’t wait!’

Raina has featured in 193 IPL matches and is also the leading run-scorer for CSK. The southpaw has so far scored 5,388 runs that include 38 fifties and a hundred as well. However, he didn’t feature in the previous edition of the IPL held in the UAE. He decided to pull out of tournament days after he joined the team in the bio-bubble in Dubai.

Team India Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara also hit the nets ahead joining the CSK training camp. Pujara posted a video on his Instagram story, using the hashtags – ‘#ipl2021’ and ‘#yellove’. The 33-year-old managed to bag an IPL contract for the first time since 2014. The right-handed batsman was roped in by CSK for Rs 50 lakh in the IPL mini auction held in February.

Meanwhile, three-time IPL champions CSK had a forgetful last season as they finished seventh and failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in the tournament’s history. The yellow brigade will look to start this season, as the preparations have begun in full swing at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Skipper Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu and few other uncapped players have already been training there.
