IPL spot-fixing scandal: SC rejects plea seeking CBI probe

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition seeking a CBI probe into the IPL spot-fixing scandal. The 29 accused arrested in the case are currently being tried under the stringent MCOCA.

Former Rajasthan Royals players S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan are out on bail while Ajit Chandila remains in custody. Rajasthan Royals left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh was also suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, pending an inquiry into the scandal, after Delhi Police revealed that he was also approached by the bookies during IPL 6.

The player was then quizzed by the BCCI's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) head Ravi Sawani at the BCCI headquarters.
