The Karnataka batsman, who recently finished as India's second highest run-getter in the Border-Gavaskar series confirmed the same to CricketNext.
Speaking exclusively about the developments to CricketNext, Rahul said, "Yes I have been ruled out of the IPL, don't want to get into the details at this point. You will get an official word from the Royal Challengers Bangalore."
Sources close to RCB and Rahul informed that the India opener will be travelling to London soon to undergo surgery.
Rahul had first injured his shoulder during the Test series against England and he showed signs of discomfort while playing in the series against Australia too.
Rahul’s injury comes after RCB captain Virat Kohli also hinted that he might be out for few weeks due to a shoulder injury he suffered during the third Test in Ranchi.
RCB will open their campaign against defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5.
