Lara inducted into ICC Cricket Hall of Fame

The West Indies great is the 67th male inductee on the list.

Lara inducted into ICC Cricket Hall of Fame

Colombo: West Indies great Brian Lara has been inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame on Thursday.

43-year-old Lara, who featured in 131 Tests and 299 ODIs, retired in 2007, just after the World Cup in the Caribbean nation.

Apart from Lara, England's Enid Bakewell is another new inductee. Lara is the 67th male inductee, while Bakewell is the third woman to be given the honour. The 71-year-old played 12 Tests and 23 ODIs between 1968 and 1979.

Lara and Bakewell will attend the ICC Awards on September 15 at Waters Edge, Colombo and will be inducted formally.

At the event, ICC chief executive David Richardson will also announce the ICC ODI Team of the Year.
