Mitchell McClenaghan is one of the leading wicket-takers for Mumbai Indians in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and the left-arm pacer has heaped praise on compatriot Shane Bond (MI bowling coach) for helping him in reaching that level for the three-time champions.
After going unsold at the IPL auction in January, McClenaghan was roped in by Mumbai three weeks ahead of the start of IPL 2018 after Jason Behrendorff was ruled out owing to a back injury.
With 14 wickets in 11 matches so far in the competition, McClenaghan sits pretty at the number 10 spot in the list of highest wicket-takers of the season. In an exclusive chat with MI TV, McClenaghan lavished praise on bowling coach Bond for helping him throughout the course of the season.
"It is always nice to have someone from your country involved in the set-up. Just to have another Kiwi in the group is very exciting. (Shane) Bond has known me right from the start, and in the IPL, I have only played with him as my bowling coach," McClenaghan said.
"He probably thinks that I a little nuts sometimes...with the things that I want to do but we share a good relationship," he added
"What Mitch does is — regardless of the form — he will always run in and challenge the opposition. He will always be prepared to challenge himself, and that is a huge part of why he is successful in this game," Shane Bond said.
