Commentary (Australia innings)

That wraps up the formalities for this series. New Zealand have regained the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy by winning it 2-0. New Zealand will now next host the South Africans for a long tour which begins on the 17th of February. While, the Aussies now head back to their country to host the Islanders for a 3 match T20 series which begins on 17th of February. Until then, it's goodbye from us.

TRENT BOULT is awarded the MAN OF THE MATCH for his exceptional performance with the ball as he kept troubling the Australian batsmen throughout. He also finished with his career best figures.

Earlier in the day, the Black Caps would have been disappointed with the way they ended with the bat after such a positive start. Taylor did all the talking with the bat with the help of some support from Brownlie who came into the side after a lay off of two years. Faulkner was the pick of the bowlers for Australia as he picked important wickets to stop the run flow. It was all round a beautiful game of cricket which saw constant competition between the bat and the ball. The visitors will be gutted as it's their seventh loss in a row away from home.

Australia had a rocky start as both the openers were struggling out there in the middle. Finch and Head got starts but could not capitalise on it. Stoinis also had his purple patch going but was undone by spin. Starc and Cummins kept on their march towards victory but there was Boult who had different plans altogether. He kept on rattling through the defences as he finished with his career best figures of 10-1-33-6. Santner also bowled well with the skipper chipping in with the crucial wicket of Finch.

NZ WIN THE CHAPPELL-HADLEE SERIES 2-0! Another enthralling game of cricket which kept shifting gears and direction too often. It was never too certain which team would have the last laugh. There is one player who stood out in between both the teams and that was the World's no.1 bowler in ODIs - Trent Boult! Take a bow TRENT BOULT! We were lucky to witness one of the best bowling performances.

UPDATE AT 40 OVERS, TARGET - 282, AUS 248/7 - This game is looking like a swing. It's changing ends every other ball. Starc and Cummins were chasing that target really well till Boult again came to the rescue. With only one over left in the latter bowler's quota, it will be interesting to see who has the last laugh. Will Starc guide his team to victory or will Boult ruin his party?

UPDATE AT 40 OVERS, TARGET - 282, AUS 198/7 - Has Australia lost the plot there? Santner has landed the wicket of Stoinis. So with Cummings and Starc in the middle, it would take something special from these two to chase this total down with only a couple of wickets left after them. New Zealand will be happy to see the wickets falling as they are closing on to the series win.

UPDATE AT 35 OVERS, TARGET - 282, AUS 177/6 - Williamson's bowling change worked out! Twin strikes by the World no.1 bowler Trent Boult has again swung the games favour in their side. UPDATE AT 30 OVERS, TARGET - 282, AUS 148/4 - Stoinis seems to have carried his rich form from the last match as he looks to settle in. He is got a lucky boundary but he is punishing all the bad balls. The visitors will want Head and Stoinis to stay till the end and guide their team to a win. The hosts want another wicket soon to put the away team on the back foot.

UPDATE AT 26 OVERS, TARGET - 282, AUS 127/4 - Just when Finch looked settled in the middle, the Kiwi skipper managed to outsmart him. Williamson is slipping in his overs quickly which is mounting some pressure on the Australian team. Maxwell managed to bag a silver duck which has brought out the main in form Stoinis at the crease. Can Head and Stoinis guide their team home?

UPDATE AT 20 OVERS, TARGET - 282, AUS 110/2 - The Australian skipper is leading the chase from the front as he has reached his fifty and surely looks hungry for many more. Williamson tried getting himself into the act but he could not turn out to be effective. The only person whom could be blamed for this is only himself as he dropped his opposite skipper. Which skipper will have the last laugh?

UPDATE AT 15 OVERS, TARGET - 282, AUS 80/2 - Aussies have managed to to negotiate this phase well as they are back to scoring at a brisk pace without playing any risky shots. Finch looks like the guy who is settled in. Maybe I jinxed Boult getting off the attack, the hosts will be wanting a wicket from somewhere quickly as the Aussie skipper is looking dangerous every passing ball.

UPDATE AT 10 OVERS, TARGET - 282, AUS 52/2 - Twin strikes in Boult's over has brought the Kiwis back into the game. UPDATE AT 5 OVERS, TARGET - 282, AUS 22/0 - Aussies have managed to survive the initial hiccup. Finch gave a tough chance to Southee who could not hold onto a catch of his very own bowling. Southee and Boult are both bowling really well but are unable to draw first blood. Marsh seems to be struggling in the middle. Due to lack of television feed, there won't be ball-by-ball commentary for this match but we shall keep you posted with updates frequently.
