While Delhi veteran Gautam Gambhir brought up his 43th first-class ton in his farewell match against Andhra on Saturday, skipper Dhruv Shorey scored 98. This helped them take a first innings lead of 19 runs with three wickets still in hand.
In another match, Rajasthan registered a convincing innings and 43-run win over Assam to rise to top of the points table. Saurashtra also posted a comprehensive 87-run win against Karnataka, to lead Group A.
In the plate group, Bihar notched up their second successive win of the tournament, beating Arunachal Pradesh by an innings and 317

Punjab battle to survive against Himachal
Once an India regular, Yuvraj failed to produce a performance of substance for Punjab, when his side needed it the most. After Himachal Pradesh were bundled out for 390, Punjab could only manage 84 in reply, with Yuvraj scoring 4. Asked to follow on the southpaw this time got out for 9. Punjab ended the day on 195/8, trailing by 111.
Siddhesh Lad impresses again
Mumbai batsman Lad played a valuable innings of 93 against Maharashtra, but could not prevent his team from conceding a lead of 79. In reply of Maharashtra’s 352, Mumbai managed only 273. Lad did got some support from Aditya Tare (63) but the middle-order batsmen failed totally. At the end of day three Maharashtra finished on 108/5 and an overall lead of 187.
Yashpal Singh bags six wickets
A dependable middle-order batsman, veteran Yashpal delivered the goods with the ball for Manipur and returned with six wickets in the match, which was instrumental in handing his side a 7-wicket win. It all started when Nagaland was dismissed for 126. In reply Manipur scored 336 runs and took a healthy lead. In the second innings Nagaland did put up an improved show, and set a target 124, but Manipur went over the finish line with ease.
