As much as the recently concluded India vs Australia Test series will be remembered for being the first time an Asian side went and beat the kangaroos down under, it will also be remembered for the light-hearted banter on the field.
And it seems that Rishabh Pant’s burgeoning reputation as an ace baby sitter is not going to leave him any time soon. As the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman posted the following picture on Twitter Tuesday, it was met with a rather amusing reaction from his teammate Rohit Sharma.
As Pant captioned the picture with a simple “good morning”, senior statesman Sharma replied to the Tweet with, “Morning buddy. Heard you’re a good baby sitter, need one right now. Ritika will be quite happy.”
In reply, Pant wrote that he was more than happy to babysit Rohit's daughter while also questioning why Yuzvendra Chahal was not doing his job properly.
@ImRo45 Hahhaa.. Bhaiya @yuzi_chahal not doing his job properly? More than happy to babysit Samaira Congratulations @ritssajdeh
Sharma was, of course, referring to the on-field exchange between Rishabh Pant and Tim Paine, with the Australian skipper asking him while he was batting in the boxing day Test whether he’d like to come over and babysit his kids – “You can come over for dinner. Do you babysit? I'll take my wife to the movies, you can look after the kids?"
Paine’s wife Bonnie then took the joke further by posting a picture on Instagram with Pant holding the youngest Paine child in his hands, and the caption read, “best babysitter!”
The on-field banter during the series was a far more tempered than the usual flare ups, that otherwise manifested themselves whenever India took on Australia in a competitive match.
