New Delhi: Stand-in-skipper Rohit Sharma added a fresh feather into his already illustrious cap by becoming only the second Indian to score 1500 runs in the shortest format of the game, on Wednesday.

During his innings of 17 in the first T20I against Sri Lanka at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Rohit joined regular skipper Virat Kohli as the only two batsmen from the nation to reach this landmark. Also, Rohit became only the 14th cricketer in the history of the formatto cross this milestone.

So far, Rohit has featured in 69 T20Is for India and has scored 1502 runs at an average of 30.04, with a healthy strike rate of 129.93. The 'Hitman' has also slammed a century and 12 fifties in this format. However, Kohli is well ahead of Rohit in this list as he has scored 1956 runs in 55 T20Is, which includes 18 fifties.

Earlier, Yuzvendra Chahal spun a web around the Sri Lankan batsmen as India coasted home and recorded a comfortable 93-run win over the Lankans in the first T20I at Cuttack. This is India's biggest victory in T20Is and Sri Lanka's biggest loss.

Chahal recorded figures of 4/23, breaking the back of Sri Lankan batting as he accounted for Upul Tharanga, Angelo Mathews, Asela Gunaratne and Dasun Shanaka. He was aided by his partner in crime, Kuldeep Yadav who ended with figures of 2/18, as Sri Lanka were never allowed to settle in the chase of 181.

Only Tharanga and Kusal Perera showed some resistance, scoring 23 and 19 respectively.
