Shane Warne and Kevin Pietersen have both picked Day 3 of the second Ashes Test as the most crucial day in the series, which might well decide who will lift the urn once the series ends.

Former Australian legend Shane Warne wrote on Twitter, Today is the biggest day of the #Ashes series. If England perform well & post a big 1st innings score then they’re back in the series. The players will believe and so will the fans in the team. If Australia roll them & have a big lead, there’s only one thing to happen - whitewash.

Warne reiterated the point on commentary and was supported by Pietersen.

Pietersen wrote on Twitter, This is THE day!

England stumbled, losing an early wicket, before rain forced play to be abandoned on day two of the second Ashes Test on Sunday after Australia had declared their first innings on 442 for eight.

Mitchell Starc struck in the seventh over, trapping Mark Stoneman leg before wicket for 18, to leave the tourists a shaky 29 for one when rain brought an early finish at Adelaide Oval.

Day 3 too didn't start in the best of ways for the visitors as they lost Cook, Root and Vince within the first hour.
