Shikhar Dhawan has scored four half-centuries till now in the tournament, with a highest score of an unbeaten 92 which helped his side defeat the Delhi Daredevils recently. Apart from captain Kane Williamson, for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, one of the most important cogs in the batting wheel is Dhawan, who though historically has not done well in the knockout stages of the IPL.
Once again, Dhawan's contribution at the top of the order will be of great importance as the Hyderabad team have been heavily dependent on Kane Williamson and Shikhar Dhawan, alongside their very able bowling unit.
Keeping that in mind, the Indian opening batsman has been working hard in the nets as seen in a video uploaded on his Twitter handle. The southpaw, wrote, 'Gearing up for tomorrow's (Tuesday) all important match with a solid practice session at the nets. #ipl2018 #SRHvCSK #orangearmy"
A reason why Dhawan is putting in those extra yards and sweating it out is that he does not have a good record when it comes to the play-off stages of the IPL and will not want to disappoint the team in another edition of the tournament.
He has failed to fire in all the play-offs that he has played in. In the eight play-offs matches that he has appeared in, he has just scored 99 runs at an average of 12.37. His strike rate too has taken a considerable dip at 82.50. The last time Dhawan appeared in a playoff match was in 2017, against Kolkata Knight Riders and scored 11 runs.
