One-off T20I, R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo 06 September, 2018

Toss won by India (decided to bowl)

India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets

Man of the Match: Virat Kohli

Match Ends: Manish Pandey hits a boundary to complete his half century and also hit the winning runs. India beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets to win every match on this Lanka tour.

Four: Kohli may have fallen but Pandey hits a four off the bowling of Udana as India edges closer to yet another win in Sri Lanka. Dhoni will be on strike in the next over as India just need two runs. :P

OUT: Virat Kohli falls after putting India in a commanding position. The India skipper departs for 82. India still need 10 runs of 9 deliveries and there could still be a sting in the tail.

Four: Kohli hits nother boundary and this time it comes off the bowling of Malinga as the ball whizzes towards the mid wicket boundary. India now need just 11 runs off the final two overs. What seemed like a tough chase, Kohli - with his brilliance - has made short work of it.

Kohli has now broken Brendon McCullum's record for most runs scored in a chase. The run machine just keep on going. India need 23 runs off 18 balls to win.

1.            V Kohli (1007*) – when Kohli was on 73*

2.            B McCullum (1006)

3.            David Warner (892)

Four: Malinga pitches the ball up and Kohli hits the ball back at him. The umpire who was standing there had to move out of the way to keep his head intact. India now need 29 runs off 24 balls.

Malinga's over will be crucial here for Sri Lanka as India are running away with the match. If Malinga manages to get couple of wickets here, that will put the pressure back on the visitors.

Apart from hitting boundaries, what these two have done is that they have taken ones and twos more often than not. Both Kohli and Pandey have rotated the strike well as they know the value of it.

When Kohli was on 59*, he surpassed Guptill to become the 3rd highest run scorer in T20Is: -

1.            McCullum – 2140

2.            Dilshan – 1889

3.            Kohli – 1807*

Kohli’s seems to be in love with this venue as in the last 3 innings vs SL at RPS, Colombo, he has scores of 131 (4th ODI) , 110* (5th ODI) 60* (T20I) and he could add to that even more tonight.

For once, Virat Kohli seems to struglling physically because of humidity. The kind of machine that he is, its very strange but Kohli is struggling out there at the moment.

50: Virat Kohli has slammed yet another fifty in the chase and India are chasing down the total in style. Kohli then celebrates his half-century with a stunning shot straight down the ground for a four. India in total command of the chase.

Four: Flick of the wrist from Kohli and the ball whizzes past the fielder for a boundary towards the  mid wicket region. And with that, the 50-run partnership also comes up between Kohli and Pandey. 120.50: Virat’s T20I average against SL (241 runs, 2 dismissals). Absolutely Stunning!

SIX and Four: Mathews pitches the ball outside the off stump but Pandey sees it early and slogs the ball over the long on boundary for a huge six. And then, the right hander cuts the ball hard on the off-side for a four. India are doing it in style now.

Four: Manish Pandey getting into the attack now as he comes down the ground and bludgeons the ball towards the mid wicket boundary for a four. After 10 overs, India are 82/2 and are in firm control of the chase.

Four and Four: Perera bowls onto the pads of Kohli and the India skipper guides the ball on the onside for the first boundary. And then on the next delivery he shows his prowess on the off-side as he hits a boundary towards the covers. India moving along nicely now.

Virat Kohli has now surpassed Ahmed Shazad of Pakistan to become the fourth most run scorer in the T20Is. Another milestone added in the cap of India's batting superstar.

Four: Short and wide from Dananjaya and Kohli rocks onto the backfoot and cuts the ball past the short third man fielder for a boundary. 10 runs coming from this Dananjaya over as Kohli is keeping India in touching distance of the required rate.

SIX: Virat Kohli takes matter in his own hands as he comes down the track and hits a huges six straight down the ground off the bowling of Prasanna. India need more of those.

India seem to on the backfoot as after 7 overs, they have scored just 47 runs. They need boundaries and need it soon as the run rate is climbing with every dot ball.

OUT: After a good start to the innings, Rahul departs for 24 as India lose their second wicket. Spectacular catch by Shanaka at the covers who flung himself in the air to get hold of it.

Rahul and Kohli are taking cheeky single a lot at the moment and that is putting the pressure o the hosts. With boundaries a bit hard ot come by in Malinga's overs, they are relying on singles and are keeping the scoreboard ticking.

Currently, India are behind what Sri Lanka achieved at the same time it their innings. But as long as they have wickets in their kitty, they are fine.

After 4 overs - SL: 46/1 (RR: 11.50, 8 boundaries) ;  IND: 31/1 (RR: 7.75, 4 boundaries)

After that dismissal, Rohit now averages 14.50 at a strike rate of 101.75 vs SL. Against teams he has played a minimum 5 T20Is against, it’s his lowest average and SR against any opponent.

Four: Short and wide from Udana and it was a slower ball as well. KL Rahul waited for the ball to come to him and then cut the ball over the infield for a boundary. Third boundary of the innings for Rahul who is looking good.

OUT: Short of a length delivery from Malinga and Rohit went for a the extravagant lob shot over the keeper. But the right hander couldn't time it well and is caught by Perera at long on. India lose their first wicket.

Lasith Malinga has now been introduced into the attack and he can make something happen for the hosts. Lanka need wickets as these two have already batted themselves in and can hurt the hosts greatly if they bat for a while.

LATEST UPDATE: India (174/3) beat Sri Lanka (170/7) by seven wickets. Kohli, Pandey slams fifties.

India would aim to cap off their super successful Sri Lanka tour with another ruthless victory in the one-off T20 International on Wednesday. Any other result than India's resounding win looks highly unlikely, considering the visitors' rampaging run in the preceding Test and ODI series, where they whitewashed the hosts 3-0 and 5-0 respectively.

The game provides India an opportunity to fine-tune team combination ahead of the upcoming T20 home series against Australia and New Zealand. In total, India would play nine T20Is this home season and all contests will be a three-match series.

India are on an experimentation drive ahead of the 2019 50-over World Cup and one name they could have tried here is Rishabh Pant, who was not named in the squad. It is all the more surprising since the selectors had an opportunity to send him for this stand-alone game when Shikhar Dhawan returned home to tend to his ailing mother this past weekend, leaving Ajinkya Rahane to open the innings in the fifth ODI.
