New Delhi: Rising Pune Supergiant skipper Steven Smith led from the front and guided his team to an unlikely victory over Mumbai Indians in their tournament opener on Thursday. Smith (84 runs off 54 balls) smashed a six off the penultimate ball to take Pune over the line and announced their intentions in the tenth edition of the league.
However, the Australian star is not just killing it on the field, but Smith is stealing the show off the field as well.
In a video uploaded by the official twitter handle of Pune Supergiant, Smith is dressed in a traditional Marathi attire and is asking the fans to support the team in the IPL. The post read: Bara ka Punekars? 😉 #smithy @stevesmith49
The best part of the video is Smith trying to engage with the fans by trying to speak in local language Marathi and pulls-it off brilliantly. Smith says: "aaplya team la support kara"

In an different post, teammate Ajinkya Rahane is seen pointing towards Smith and the duo simply cannot hide their smiles. Recently, the two players were at loggerheads and led their respective teams against each other in the Dharamsala Test between India and Australia, but this picture is a prime example of how IPL ends international conflict in a blink of an eye.

This must be a way by the franchisee and Smith himself to appease the Pune fans who expressed their disappointment and anger when the Australian skipper replaced MS Dhoni as the captain of the team.
