The Chennai tweaker, who was adjudged Man-of-the-Series for his sensational performance, praised the team.

Team India all-rounder R Ashwin once again came down hard on ex-cricketers, pundits who have been critical of the pitches served up for the second and third Test of the India-England Test series in Chennai and Ahmedabad respectively. Ashwin lauded the team’s performance and asked the fans to stop paying attention to white noise after India triumphed 3-1 in the four-match series over England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

India, after losing the first Test by 227 runs, won the remaining three games by margins of 317 runs, 10 wickets, and an innings and 25 runs, respectively. The Chennai tweaker, who was adjudged Man-of-the-Series for his sensational performance, praised the team and added that people should stop encouraging the critics who are making a mockery of the game.

Team India’s Bench Emerges Its Biggest Strength Again

“This series win is a testament to the fact that this is a very good Indian cricket team, that is all I would like to say. The criticism around the pitch, all that, the other day, Sunny sir was saying something that makes complete sense,” Ashwin said in a virtual press conference.

Following the Day-Night Test especially in Ahmedabad, which ended in two days, the likes of Michael Vaughan, Andrew Strauss and Steve Waugh were among others, who raised questions regarding the nature of the pitch.

But, Ashwin, who took 32 wickets in four Tests and also scored a century in the series, said he would like to see how others react if Indian pundits start talking about pitches when there is a lot of grass on the track.

“I would like to see one day when there is a lot of grass on the pitch somewhere else in the world, our Indian commentators talking about it and then putting an Instagram post, I would like to see that and how the global media reacts to that, then we will know, who is at fault,” Ashwin said.
