Australian captain Steven Smith took a gravity defying one-handed grab to dismiss KL Rahul on Day 3 of the second Test at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The Aussie skipper sent KL Rahul back just after the Indian opener notched a half-century and was looking to put India in a commanding position.
Rahul looked to play a square drive of a flighted delivery way outside the off stump by Steve O'Keefe. The Indian opener got a thick outside edge which flew wide off the first slip.
Smith dived to his right in an instant and pulled off a stunner.
Applauding Smith's effort, India batting legend said:"One of the greatest catches of all time,".
Former Australia captain Michael Clarke, who was sharing the commentary box with Gavaskar, said: "That is the greatest catch I've ever seen live."
Smith's spectacular catch helped Australia end a dangerous partnership between Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara. Rahul and Pujara added 61 runs for the second wicket.
