Women's T20 Challenge 2022 Highlights: Kiran Navgire Takes Velocity to the Final Even As Trailblazers Win

So, 24 needed off six balls. Poonam Yadav to bowl. And Kaire Cross gets a four. Natthakan Chantham takes a couple of singles. Cross falls off the final delivery. Velocity end with 174/9, Trailblazers win by 16 runs, but they are out of the competition, The Final will be played between Supernovas and Velocity on Saturday. Kiran Navgire the start of the night with a brilliant 69 off just 34 balls. Shafali Verma made 29 off 15. Their knocks doused out some stellar batting efforts from Trialblazers’ Sabbhineni Meghana (73 off 47) and Jemimah Rodrigues (66 off 44)

Simran Bahadur brings out the ramp and takes four and Velocity are through to the final. Defending champions Trailblazers are out of the tournament. Velocity though are nowhere close to their target of 191, but does not matter. Trailblazers will bow out of the competition with a win. Hayley Matthews scalps Bahadur. 9 runs off it. Velocity 167/8 in 19 

Velocity wobble a bit. Run-out and Radha Yadav departs for 2. Good stuff in the deep from Jemimah Rodrigues. But Velocity are just touching distance of making the finals. They need to make 159 to make the finals – their target of 191 is irrelevant now. 4 runs off it. Velocity 158/7 in 18 

Kiran Navgire’s fantastic innings comes to an end. Stumped by Richa Ghosh off the bowling of Sophia Dunkley. But the dismissal comes a bit too late for the Trailblazers. Navgire hit match-turning 69 off just 34 balls, Velocity 154/6 in 17

Sneh Rana slices one straight to short cover and departs for 11 off 13 balls. Wicket for Renuka Singh but there is no stopping Kiran Navgire! she drives over over the in field off a fuller delivery and takes yet another boundary. She moves to 67 off just 31 balls. Velocity inch closer to the final. Velocity 150/5 in 16 overs.

Sophia Dunkley, right-arm leg break, comes into the attack and a tidy over from her to start off with. Just 4 singles off it. Velocity 143/4 in 15

Rajeshwari Gayakwad with her final over and starts well. 2 runs off the first four delvieries, but Kiran Navgire cannot be bogged down for too long. She takes on the long-on fielder Arundhati Reddy and just about manages a six – it was chance, but the ball bursts through Reddy’s hands. 50 for Navgire off just 25 balls – this is the fastest 50 of the Women’s T20 Challenge. Navgire ends the over with a better shot to long -on SIX again. 5th six of the night for the Nagaland batter. 14 runs of it. Velocity 139/4 in 14 

Poonam Yadav continues and a tidy over. 5 runs off it as Sneh Rana picks a boundary behind square. Velocity 125/4 in 13

Rajeshwari Gayakwad continues and she has success in the form of Deepti Sharma’s wicket. A good juggling catch by the Trailblazer’s slipper Smriti  Mandhana at short cover. Sharma goes for 2. Velocity 120/4 in 12

Poonam Yadav with the breakthrough as she foxes Laura Wolvaardt with a tossed up delivery. Wolvaardt came down the track but was beaten all ends up. She departs for 17 off 16. Kiran Navgire though smacks a six in the over. 8 runs off it. Velocity 113/3 in 11

Rajeshwari Gayakwad comes in for her 2nd over and a good over is spoiled by a midfield off the final delivery by Jemimah Rodrigues. 9 runs off it. Velocity 105/2. This is the fastest team hundred in Women’s T20 Challenge  

Velocity well on course for the final you would say. Kiran Navgire swirls and pulls one with ease for a boundary behind square off Arundhati Reddy and Laura Wolvaardt adds another four off a short delivery. 12 runs off it. Velocity 96/2 

Runs continue to flow for Velocity. Kiran Navgire takes four off Poonam Yadav with a backfoot punch towards deep extra cover and then Laura Wolvaardt executes a similar shot for a boundary. 13 runs off the over. Velocity 84/2 in 8 

Arundhati Reddy into the attack and a tidy over from her. Just 3 runs off it. Velocity 71/2 in 7 

Kiran Navgire has just hit her first delivery of Women’s T20 Challenge for a SIX! over midwicket. What timing this is from Nacgire. An exciting talent. But she top edges one in the over, but survives. She shows some timing as well. A four for Navgire off the backfoot and next she dances down the track and smacks Salma Khatun for an 89m SIX! 18 runs off the over. Velocity 68/2 in 6

Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Left-arm orthodox, comes into the attack and Shafali Verma takes three fours on the over. Power and timing combined and some top notch shots. But Gayakwad has trapped Verma in front. REVIEW taken by Verma and that does not save her. Wicket for Gayakwad. Verma’s cameo of 29 off 15 comes to an end. Velocity 50/2 in 5

The experienced Salma Khatun into the attack and what an over this. Just 4 off it and she castles Yashtika Bhatia for 19. Bhatia danced down the track but could not reach the pitch of the delivery and is beaten all ends up. Velocity 36/1 in 4

Renuka Singh comes on for her second over and Yashtika Bhatia’s top edge fetches her a four, over short fine leg.  Bhatia and Verma showing urgency between the wickets as well. Renuka drifts one down the leg and Shafali Verma guides to fine leg fence. 10 runs off it. Velocity 32/0 in 3

Off-spinner Hayley Matthews comes on to bowl and starts off with a wide. 3 runs follow.  Shafali Verma on strike and she dances down the track and drills one past mid-off for a boundary. 11 runs off it as well. Velocity 22/0 in 2

We are back for the chase and Yastika Bhatia and Shafali Verma out in the middle to chase down the big total. Renuka Singh to start proceedings for Trailblazers. And a good start for Velocity. Yasttika Bhatia takes back to back boundaries to end the first over. 11 off it. Velocity 11/0 in 1
