New Delhi: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly feels that Virat Kohli hasn't been tested as captain of the team yet and his side must be judged on how they perform in tough conditions like that of South Africa, Australia and England.

Virat's troops thumped Sri Lanka by 304 runs in the first Test at Galle on Saturday but Dada believes that this Sri Lanka side pose no threat to the 'perfectly balanced' Indian side and they are second best in all departments of the game.

"India are perfectly balanced with so much firepower in their batting, bowling and fielding. Sri Lanka on the other hand, have a lot to worry about," Sourav Ganguly was quoted as saying by India Today.

"The last two years they have been wonderful, especially away from home. Under Anil they won everything in the West Indies and then came the home season. I feel India won't be challenged in these conditions. Kohli is absolutely right when he said in the post match ceremony that 'they have been clinical in their performance'," he added.

Ganguly believes that Kohli's real test will come when the team travels to places like South Africa, Australia and England, where India's record hasn't been great in the past.

"Virat hasn't been tested yet. Sri Lanka is probably not the strongest Test side at the moment. For me, the fans as well as for Virat Kohli himself, the yardstick will be how well his side performs in South Africa, Australia and England," said the former India skipper.

"Sri Lanka have a lot to think about on how to get batsmen like Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane out. If they don't bowl well they will have to field a lot in these hot and humid conditions," Ganguly added.

Having taken a 1-0 lead in the three match series, India will now look to take an unassailable lead in the second Test, which starts on August 3 at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo
