In what is a perfect example of noble intention gone wrong, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli was guilty of committing a major faux pas as he posted a photograph of Indian women's team opener Punam Raut while congratulating women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj for becoming the first woman to breach the 6000-run mark in ODI cricket.

Kohli posted: “A great moment for Indian Cricket, @M_Raj03 becomes the highest run scorer in Women’s ODI Cricket History today. Champion Stuff!” alongside an image of an India women’s player in action.
That woman cricket was not Mithali Raj, but her teammate Punam Raut, who scored a brilliant century against Australia but her efforts went in vain as the India went down by 8 wickets in an ICC Women's World Cup match.

Kohli though was quick to realise his mistake and the post has now been deleted. But this rather innocent looking mistake has once again brought into limelight the issue of ignorance towards women's cricket in India.
Mithali Raj added another feather in her cap as she became the highest run-getter in the history of women's ODI cricket. She surpassed former England captain and opener Charlotte Edwards, who has 5992 runs to her name in 191 matches at an average of 38.16.
The Indian captain broke the record when she reached a personal score of 34 during India's ICC Women's World Cup match against Australia. She also went on to become the first woman cricketer to score 6000 runs in ODI cricket.
