Lady luck is well and truly shining on India captain Rohit Sharma as he led India to a statement like win in Mohali against Sri Lanka. The stylish opening batsman also became the only man to score three double hundreds in One-day International cricket when he clobbered the Lankan bowling to all parts of the ground. The feat was achieved on his second wedding anniversary which made it all the more special for the batsman.

After completing a thumping 141 run victory to level the three match series against Sri Lanka, it was time for the Indian team to celebrate their captain’s achievements.

In a video released by the BCCI on social media, Rohit was welcomed at the team hotel with a cake. Once he finished cutting the cake, teammates Ajinkya Rahane and Yuzvendra Chahal proceeded to ensure that tradition of putting cake on the face was kept up with.

Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka put India into bat, and Rohit batted through the innings to score an unbeaten 208 which included 13 boundaries and 12 sixes as India piled on the misery on the visitors, setting them a mammoth 393 runs to win. Sri Lanka crumbled under pressure as they fell well short of finish line.

The Mumbaikar who has a knack of staying put once he gets in, said after the match, “I was telling myself, if I have got this far, I am not going to get out. I was only looking to keep my shape and hit through the line. It was the same thing I did in my first two 200s. I started off pretty slow then too.”

In attendance was his wife Ritika who was understandably over the moon with the performance of her better half. In the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit who was rightfully named player of the match dedicated his innings to his wife.
