Match Abandoned

Man of the Match:

The match has now been officially called off. What a sad end to the day for fans.

Just 8 balls into the game and rain has stopped play again! India 199/3 after 39.2 overs.

Rain has interuppted play here. This is bound to happen when a series is being played in the month of June.

Out: Holder bowls a half-volley on Yuvraj's pads and the left hander manages to flick it only till the man at mid wicket. Yuvraj looked quite out of sorts today.

Out: Holder bowls a half-volley on Yuvraj's pads and the left hander manages to flick it only till the man at mid wicket. Yuvraj looked quite out of sorts today.

India are doing it in singles at the moment. Both Kohli and Yuvraj are looking to settle in so that they have a onslaught right at the end of the innings.

With Kohli you have to be on your toes everytime. Yuvraj needs to run harder here with the captain because he is calling for some risky singles and Yuvraj is struggling at times.

Bishoo is bowling well here. He hasn't given Yuvraj anything to pounce upon since he has come into bat after the dismissal of Dhawan.

Out: It looks close, Dhawan misses a striaghter one from Bishoo as the ball hits him on the front leg. The left-hander goes for the review but it's unsuccessful. He walks back after a wonderful 87.

Four: Kohli is looking good here. It was a bouncer from Cummins but Kohli nicely got on top of it and pulled it to the square leg boundary with ease.

Dhawan is now just 15 runs away from a well-deserved century. The southpaw has been in glorious form throughout the summer. First it was IPL and thne the Champions Trophy and now West Indies tour.

Cummins has bowled to brilliant bouncers to catch Kohli off-guard. The first one was a super delivery which hit Kohli in the gloves while he was trying to protect his face. Kohli smiles at the bowler to say well done.

Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan have now started to take the innings forward. Over the years, these two have put on some brilliant partnerships and India will hope that these two can do it once again.

OUT:  Ajinkya Rahane falls for 66 as Alzarri gets rid of the opener provide West Indies its first breakthrough of the innings. Rahane tried to hit the ball over the infield but end up giving an easy catch to Holder at mid-on.

The highest opening partnership for India in West Indies before this match was set by Dhawan and Rohit (123) in 2013. Rahane and Dhawan have already broken that stand and are moving towards a big score.

Four: Bishoo bowls a short delivery and Dhawan clears his front leg and hit the spinner on the leg-side for a boundary towards mid-wicket. Seventh four of the innings for Dhawan.

SIX and 50: Joseph bowls onto Dhawan's pads and the southpaw bludgeons the ball over the vacant backward square region. Dhawan's supreme form with the bat continues as he is going towards a big total all guns blazing.

Four and 50: Lucky boundary this for Ajinkya Rahane as Cummins produce an edge of his bat and the ball goes for a boundary behind the keeper.  17th ODI half-century for Rahane and India also cross the 100-run mark.

Both Rahane and Dhawan are inching towards their respective half-centuries and India are already in a commanding position in the match. The openers have ensured they haven't given away their wicket. While the West Indian attack has looked toothless so far.

Two back to back good overs from West Indies after the break. First Bishoo, now Cummins. They need a few such overs to pressurize the Indian batsmen who have so far played without any fear.

Bishoo is quite tight in the over after drinks. Keeps both Rahane and Dhawan quiet.

Four: Good delivery from Miguel Cummins but that is the kind of form that Dhawan is in, as he hits the ball for a boundary towards fine-leg. Sixth boundary of the innings for the southpaw. Both Dhawan and Rahane are dealing in boundaries at the moment.

Four and Four: This is one shot that Dhawan doesn't play that often but this sweep shot his fourth boundary of the innings. Ashley Nurse then bowled a short delivery and Dhawan goes down on one knee and again sweeps the ball towards the mid-wicket boundary.

Four: This has to be the shot of the day so far. Ajinkya Rahane leans onto the drive and the ball goes past the ball straight down the ground. Rahul Dravid would have been proud of this straight drive.

Rahane and Dhawan have now put on their fifth consecutive 50-run partnership in ODIs. The others to do so for India were Dravid/Kaif, Tendulkar/Jadeja. While Gambhir/ Dhoni and Tendulkar/Azhar have six consecutive fifty stands in ODIs.

India vs West Indies Preview:

Team India is all set to shrug off the disappointment of losing the Champions Trophy final and begin afresh as they gear up to take on West Indies in the first of the five-match ODI series.

Virat Kohli and his team sweat it out in the middle at the Queen's Park Oval ahead of the opening fixture. Kohli had said in the pre-match press conference on Thursday that the team will look to do the basics and play their 'boring' brand of cricket in order to maintain consistency.

The likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan were seen practicing in the nets ahead of the match. Rahane will look to make the most of this opportunity as regular opener Rohit Sharma has been rested for the tour. Kohli made it clear that it will be Rahane who will open in all the five matches along side Shikhar Dhawan.

India are expected to whitewash the Windies, who have a cumulative squad experience of 213 matches between the 13 players. Skipper Jason Holder is the highest capped player in the side, having played 58 matches.
