Former Pakistan skipper Salim Malik was banned in 2000 for offering bribes. He was the first cricketer to be banned for lifetime for corruption, and also the first cricketer to be jailed.
Former India skipper was served a life ban in 2000 for allegedly providing information to bookies and introducing Hansie Cronje to betting. In 2012, the life ban was overturned.
Hansie Cronje was the first player to admit to the offence of match fixing. He was guilty of getting monetary rewards from bookmakers for providing information and for fixing matches.
Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal was banned from cricket in April 2020 for failing to report corrupt approaches.
