Blair Tickner, a medium-fast bowler, was born on February 1993 in Napier. He made his first-class debut for Central Districts in 2015 against Auckland. He took 2 wickets but had an expensive outing as Colin Munro took on the District's bowlers and hit them all over the park. In the end, Central Districts lost the match by an innings and 64 runs. Tickner made the selectors take notice of him when he took a hat-trick in 2017 against Wellington in the 2017-18 Plunkett Shield season.
Tickner was on fire in the 2017-18 Super Smash T20 league in New Zealand where he ended up as the highest wicket-taker (21 wickets in 11 matches). He continued to perform well for Central Districts and was awarded a contract for the 2018-19 season. He was called up to the national squad for the T20I series against India and made his debut in the third match at Seddon Park.
