EXCLUSIVE | Brian Lara: Windies Would Have Found it Tough to Defend Even 400 Against India

West Indian cricketing great Brian Lara broke down the proceedings of the first ODI between India and Windies played at Guwahati on Sunday exclusively for CricketNext, and said that even a total of 400 could have been chased down by India considering the kind of form Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were in during their respective innings'. The duo started batting together when India were 10/1 after the early dismissal of Shikhar Dhawan, but the score was 256 when Kohli finally departed on 140 off 107 balls, stumped off Devendra Bishoo's bowling. Sharma too scored 152* off 117 balls, and Lara mentioned how the Windies will need to put in a much better bowling performance in the second ODI if they were to stand any chance of doing well, among other things.
