Hyderabad: Rishabh Pant’s impressive form in his recent Test outings against England and Windies has earned him his maiden call-up into the Indian ODI squad for the first two matches of the five-game series against Windies starting on October 21 in Guwahati. Pant has replaced Dinesh Karthik in the squad. In his 28 match List A career so far, Pant has scored 838 runs at an average of 28.09, with one century and five half-centuries.
The 15-man squad also sees the return of Virat Kohli as captain after he sat out of the Asia Cup recently. Also back in the mix is fast bowler Mohammad Shami, who last played an ODI over a year ago. Shami has taken 91 wickets in 50 ODIs over his career at an average of 25.37. Hardik Pandya & Kedar Jadhav, who both picked up injuries during the Asia Cup, continue to be on the sidelines.

However, the selectors have chosen to rest the first choice fast bowling pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Both played the Asia Cup but were rested for the Test series against Windies.
