It is not new for a cricket fan to get attention on social media. While everyone has heard the names like Bashir Chacha and Sudhir, now it’s the turn of Pakistan’s Rizla Rehan to make the headlines. Recently Rehan was spotted watching India and Pakistan match during the Asia Cup 2018, and that’s when her photos went viral on social media.

While the world is going gaga over baby-faced Rehan, CNN News18’s Vimal Kumar caught up with the Pakistani fan. Still in disbelief with her sudden brush with fame, Rehan says that the feeling is yet to sink in.

“I can’t express in words how I feel. I never expected such a thing to happen to me. I feel honoured at the moment,” Rehan said.

She also described how the events unfolded on that fateful day, which brought her in the limelight. “I came back home disappointed as Pakistan had lost the match. I did not know I was captured on camera during the match. It was later in the night that a friend sent me a message with my picture titled, ‘India nay match jeeta hai liya lekin Pakistan nay dil jeet liya hai’."

“I called my husband the next day and was told by another friend that the people from radio were looking for me,” Rehan said. “It was then that my husband told me to enjoy the five minutes of fame.”

The new mystery girl on the internet further revealed that she has Indian roots as her grandparents were from Fatehpur Sikri. “My grandparents and my father were born in Fatehpur Sikri. I would love to come to India if given an opportunity.”

During the India-Pakistan match, head coach Ravi Shastri spotted the internet sensation and gave her a thumbs up. But Rehan is unsure whether India boss recognized her, or was just being kind to a fan.

“I saw Ravi Shastri giving me a thumbs up. I don’t know the reason behind that though. In fact some players waved at me too, but I couldn’t recognize which players they were. I also reciprocated the kind gesture,” Rehan concluded.
