It's hard to keep Indian Premier League and controversy separated. Barely two days into season eight of the IPL, reports of offers to fix matches have started emerging and once again it's Rajasthan Royals who find themselves in the news for all the wrong reasons.

According to a report in The Indian Express on Friday, a Rajasthan player, who hails from Mumbai, has been approached by his Ranji Trophy team-mate with a fixing offer. And with that disturbing news surfacing on the day of RR's opening match of IPL8, it's bound to create a stir in the Royals' camp.

The report also says that the said player informed a senior franchise official who related the development to BCCI's Anti Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) last month. The offer was to "follow a pre-decided pattern of play" in exchange of money.

The player who made the offer is not part of this year's IPL season.

The said RR player has also been questioned by ACSU, where he informed that the player who made the offer shared dressing room with him during the Ranji Trophy.

The Indian Express also tried to contact ACSU chief Ravi Sawani but he declined to comment.

Incidentally, it was three RR players - S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan - in the controversial season six of the IPL who were hauled up on charges of spot-fixing.

The Supreme Court took serious notice of the offence, which led to detailed inquiry into the IPL spot-fixing case and eventually led to the ouster of N Srinivasan as CSK owner and president of the BCCI after his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappa was found guilty of betting alongside Rajasthanm Royals' co-owner Raj Kundra.
