Mercedes-Benz X-Class Unveiled, Company's First Pickup Truck
As per the company claims, the X-Class can haul a payload of up to 1.1 tons. That is enough to transport 17 full 50-litre barrels of beer in the cargo area. The company also claims that it can also pull a trailer containing three horses or an eight-meter yacht.

The German automaker Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its first ever pickup truck which the company calls the X-Class. First shown as a concept version at a presentation in Stockholm in 2016, the X-Class is a rugged, all-terrain pickup that can also be used as a vehicle for urban lifestyles. It consists of a ladder-type frame, rear multi-link solid axle, front independent wheel suspension and coil springs on both axles which ensure the car to provide a better off-road experience.

The X-Class is the only mid-size pickup to be equipped with lighting in the cargo area as standard. The third brake light contains LED lights which illuminate the whole load bed. Inside, the X-Class comes with a 5.4-inch colour multimedia display that is nestled between the analog round dials that are inspired by the C-Class and V-Class. It also gets autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning and lane keeping assistance systems in combination with a suite of seven airbags.
The powertrain line-up of the new X-Class consist of three turbo diesel engines that come with three different variants – X220d and X250d models get 2.3-litre four cylinder turbo diesel engines that offer 120kW/403Nm and 140kW/450Nm respectively. The 4matic X350d gets 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 that offers 190kW and 550Nm.
The new X-Class will be available in three trims - Pure, Progressive, and Power. Based on Nissan Navara, Mercedes-Benz X-Class will be first available in the Australian and European market.
