Hyundai Motor India has unveiled its much awaited 2017 Verna which is scheduled to be launched on 22nd August, as News18 exclusively told earlier. The company has already started accepting pre-booking for the same. The 5th-generation Verna is built on advanced high strength steel (AHSS) body structure including hot stamping applications that enables sedan for superior performance and rigidity. The rigid Chassis and improved impact harshness are there to provide superior road feedback to the driver. The super body structure provides adequate weight control for enhanced performance and fuel efficiency. The next-generation sedan by the South-Korean car manufacturers will have projector headlamps and LED DRLs along with chrome accented grille and LED tail lamps as on its older sibling Elantra.

The new-gen Verna will be available with two engine options – 1.6-litre Dual VTVT petrol engine that churns out 123 Ps of power and 1.6-litre U2 CRDi VGT diesel engine that punches out 128 Ps of power. The engines will be mated with 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission which company claims to be tuned to provide high fuel efficiency.

The cabin will now come equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, USB, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto support. The interior features a two-tone dashboard with chocolate brown colored top dash and a beige lower half. It also gets a sunroof and curtains for rear passengers along with cruise control, rear AC vents, ventilated seats, and 6-airbags.

The company claims that the new Verna has extremely low NVH characteristics by the use enhanced sound absorption materials and the car is made on an all-new K2 platform which enables precise tuning of key suspension components for enhanced cornering and high-speed stability. The new Verna gets a modified rear suspension geometry with vertical rear shock absorbers and coil springs on the coupled torsion beam axle.

The front suspension uses an optimally designed McPherson strut with coil springs and gas shock absorbers along with a front stabliser to help reduce body roll when cornering. The motor-driven power steering system on the new Verna has been tuned to for better handling response. The front wheel caster angle has been modified further to enhance the steering feed back to the driver at highway speeds.

When launched on 22nd August, Hyundai Verna will compete against the giants of Honda City and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and so, pricing has to be a winning factor here. Expect the Hyundai Verna to be priced at Rs 8-13 lakh.
