Tesla, the all-electric car company owned by Elon Musk is going through some rough waters. While their ambitious Model 3 sedan is facing production delays, a lot of people from the top management are leaving the Tesla to join rival brands. But the worst of all is that the repeated car crashes have left the image of Tesla tarnished. However, most of the accidents involve auto pilot mode.

Amidst all such bad news, Tesla found a sign of relief with a new video showcasing the high safety aspect of the Model X. The NHTSA five-star winning Tesla Model X can be seen undergoing a rollover safety test. And even after throwing the car three time sideways at three different speeds, Tesla Model X fails to roll.

The Model X received a five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA. In fact, it gets five stars in every individual category, including the rollover test. Now an SUV and rollover don’t go hand in hand, as SUVs, by the virtue of it, has a very high body roll.

To pull off five stars in this test, makes Tesla Model X one of the safest cars in the world. However, we have to realize that electric cars – specifically those with the skateboard style battery pack – comes with a significant amount of weight under the vehicle and a low center of gravity, making it secure against a rollover.

This is the first time Tesla has released an internal footage to show how safe Model X is, probably succumbing to pressure building on safety concerns. Unfortunately, Tesla didn’t disclose the speed of the three crash tests.

The automaker released the footage on Twitter stating - “Model X is the first and only SUV to achieve a NHTSA 5-Star safety rating in every category and subcategory, with the lowest probability of rollover and overall injury of any SUV.”
