Mumbai: One of India’s finest filmmaker – late Bimal Roy – got a new lease of life through the biography The Man Who Spoke In Pictures.

The book is edited by his daughter Rinki Roy Bhattacharya and was released by filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar on Thursday evening in Mumbai.

“Bimal Roy was one director who made films of all genres. He is still an inspiration to all of us and I am honored to be here at this book launch. It is a wonderful book,” said Gowarikar.

The Man Who Spoke In Pictures is an insight into Bimal Roy – the man, the director and his art.

It traces his journey from a cinematographer to a director, by some of India's leading literary and cinematic luminaries including Naseeruddin Shah, Gulzar, Nayantara Sehgal, Shashi Kapoor and many more.

“It wasn't difficult for me to get people to write this book, in fact even before I approached Naseer-ud-din Shah, he was more than ready to write an essay for the book,” said Rinki.

The release of the biography on the eve of Bimal Roy's birth centenary is dream come true for his daughter.
