Q. What is going through your mind when you writing a book? Asked by: eega

A. That to some extent depends on what the book is about. But in case of non fiction, the thought is how to structure the narrative in a way that is engaging and yet informative for the reader and honest on the subject.

Q. Why did you choose to name the book 'Incredible Ascents to Everest'? Asked by: Rohit

A. Well, the title was decided in collaboration with the publishers and we felt that it best captured the spirit of the book, which is indeed about people who have overcome enormous physical and other challenges to accomplish something which is incredible even under normal circumstances.

Q. What is your writing schedule like and do you write everyday? Asked by: Sneha

A. I try and write between 500 to 800 words a day but sometimes don't manage to do that. But always carry a notebook and take notes about what I observe around me. But when on a specific project the writing time can run into several hours a day.

Q. Who should read this book? Asked by: Priya

A. I think this is a book that would be enjoyed and appreciated by almost everyone, given its focus on the stories behind the individuals who scaled the Everest. Anyone wanting to accomplish something in life but feels bogged down by circumstances should read this to see how no obstacle is large enough.

Q. What did you enjoy most about working on this book? Asked by: VM

A. Oh definitely discovering the lives of these remarkable individuals. I was particularly taken in by Mallory and would love to explore his life in more detail.

Q. Are there any other books in the pipeline? Asked by: Tiger

A. There are a couple of non-fiction books that are in the pipeline, but still have a way to go.

Q. What writers, books, or ideas have most influenced you? Asked by: Anuj

A. I have been very fortunate to have been exposed to excellent writing by my teachers and mentors over the years. I am not sure if I can pinpoint any one writer, book or idea that has nfluenced me most.

Q. What inspired you to write this book? Asked by: Anu

A. A celebration of 60 years since the first humans stood atop the world's tallest mountain was what inspired this book. The objective was to capture some of the most remarkable stories of those who had sumitted successfully since.

Q. Why this book? Asked by: atiya ray

A. Because the subject was compelling enough.

Q. Are you interested in mountaineering? What made you author this book? Asked by: Nandu

A. I am not a mountaineer. My experience is limited to hiking in the Scottish mountains and in the lower Himalayas. This book is not about the rigours of mountaineering but the motivation of people who choose to climb it. And who is not in awe of Everest?

Q. I want to be a writer too. Can you give some tips? Asked by: Jyoti

A. Choose a subject you feel strongly about. And write write write. Observe, take notes.

Q. Were there moments when you felt that the book wasn't turning out as you desired or wanted to give up? Asked by: VM

A. Yes there were moments when it was tough. The biggest challenge was how to compress these remarkable lives into few words.

Q. Can you summarise the book in two lines? Asked by: archana

A. Incredible Ascents To Everest is a book about the individuals who each redefined the boundaries of the word possible when they successfully sumitted the world's tallest mountain. It is about the people for whom the mountain was an obsession.

Q. What according to you is the selling point of this book? Asked by: archana

A. That it contains within in not one or two but several stories of the individual's who have scaled Everest in the last 60 years

Q. If you had a chance to meet one of the climbers, who would it be? Asked by: VM

A. Out of those alive definitely Reinhold Messner, but otherwise Mallory or possible Irvine as he seems to be a bit of an enigma.
