Markets close at all time high

The Sensex was closed up at 136.59 points or 0.96 per cent at 14403.77. The Nifty up 46.30 points at 4183.5.

The Sensex was closed up at 136.59 points or 0.96 per cent at 14403.77. The Nifty up 46.30 points at 4183.5.

New Delhi: The markets on Friday opened strong with all round buying support from investors. Through the day it maintained gain of over 125 points.

However, there were some profit booking in the last 20 minutes of trading but still managed to close up at all time high on the back of good performance of capital goods, consumer durable, IT and pharma stocks.

The Sensex was closed up at 136.59 points or 0.96 per cent at 14403.77, and the Nifty up 46.30 points or 1.12 per cent at 4183.5.

Banking sector was most volatile on today’s trade. About 1385 shares have advanced, 1235 shares declined, and 53 shares are unchanged.

The BSE IT index gained 0.82 per cent or 44.06 points at 5,392.29. Mphasis, Satyam, Wipro, Moser Baer and HCL Tech surged.

The Auto index rose 0.50 per cent or 28.06 points at 5,598.06. Escorts, Tube Investment, Cummins, Amtek Auto and Bharat Forge moved up.

The FMCG index advanced 0.34 per cent or 6.43 points at 1,920.48. United Spirits, Nirma, ITC, HLL and Britannia ended in green.

The BSE Capital Goods index moved up 2.46 per cent or 235.71 points at 9,823.81. Greaves Cotton, Gammon India, L&T, Crompton Greave and Praj Industries gained.

The BSE Healthcare index surged 0.92 per cent or 35.04 points at 3,855.09. Sterling Bio, Biocon, Lupin, Wockhardt and Cadila Health ended positive.

The BSE Metal index spurted 0.23 per cent or 21.33 points at 9,457.29. Jindal Steel, Welspun Guj, Guj NRE Coke, Tata Steel and SAIL soared.

However, The BSE Bankex index plunged 0.09% or 28.06 at 5,598.06. Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, PNB, SBI and IOB slipped.

The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 10243.14 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 29389.83 crore.

The BSE cash turnover was Rs 5607.98 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 45240.95 crore.
