Nita Ambani made the announcement on the vaccine in a message to all Reliance Industries Ltd employees.

Earlier, in the Reliance Family Day 2020 message, chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani had given assurances that as soon as any approved vaccine is available in India, Reliance would plan early vaccination for all employees and family members.

In a letter to Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) employees, Nita Ambani, chairperson and founder of Reliance Foundation, has assured that the conglomerate will bear the entire expense of every staff’s Covid-19 vaccination along with that of immediate family members.

“As per our earlier commitment, Reliance will bear the full cost of vaccination for you, your spouse, your parents, and vaccine-eligible-aged children. You and your family’s safety and well-being is our responsibility," Nita Ambani said in an internal communication to all RIL employees. The non-executive director has urged employees to register for the government of India’s COVID-19 vaccination programme.

RIL is one of the first companies in India to take this step, which will act as a cue for other corporates to follow suit. It will not only benefit millions, but also help reduce the burden of vaccination cost on the government.
